The term "coming-out" when read in context to the other items listed along with it I believe is meant to mean something similiar to a debutante ball. I don't believe it was referring to "coming-out of the closet". Although, that would be a strange site to see in a church builing :-)
Definitely the debutante ball- but I'm pretty positive they don't want a "Coming Out" party in a ward building either. But then again, it just speaks against Church SPONSORED events. . .
Well, folks, my wife and I actually had a Coming Out Party to which we invited most of our ward, as well as other family and friends. At the party, we told everyone that we were divorcing and that I was gay. We distributed copies of CLP's book No More Goodbyes. We had close to 70 people attend and almost all left feeling positive and uplifted.
BTW, four days before the party our bishop warned us that if we went ahead with our plan, we would be subject to discipline. After a lengthy discussion, he agreed to allow us to hold the party so long as he had veto over who would be invited. For the sake of comity we sort of complied. :-)
I am a moho, wondering where I will end up, how far the Lord will allow me to wander, as opposed to my continuing to wonder. CTR has got me where I am, pretty solid ground right now, card carrying and getting by day by day.
This is my blog, and I don't really know the blogging rules, so I'll do it my way. It may take some time to get it all out, but at least this is a start.

Why would it include coming out party? Has it happened before somewhere else?
Stupid rules.
