Early years

My mother stayed at home while my father worked in the coal mines. The house was always full of other children that my mom watched during the day. Mostly my cousins and children of friends who were also too young to be parents. The play I did with my toys was organizing. All of my Little People were accounted for each day, my Matchbox cars were never put in the dirt, only driven around their track and put back to the parking garage.

It was in kindergarten that the next kid came into the family. I don't ever remember getting along with my younger brother. He was always country and I was always wanting out. It was also kindergarten when I declared to the world that it was ok for me to play in the kitchen instead of with the blocks where the boys were mean and tore down my buildings. The world did not agree and the teasing began.
